It's been two weeks since we came home from Sweden. And it's taken us that long to recover from jet lag and awful colds we caught while abroad. Now that I'm (somewhat) back into the groove of daily life, I thought I'd post a few final entries from our trip.
A visit to Gothenburg would not be complete without a stop at IKEA — founded in Sweden in 1943. I've blogged about our trips there in the past; this was our third annual visit. Spending a kid-free day at the famous furniture superstore has become a relaxing "Date Day" tradition for me and Andreas, a chance to imagine our dream home and, of course, enjoy the yummy fare at IKEA's budget-friendly restaurant.

First stop: Food. Andreas had Swedish meatballs and prinsesstårta (top), or princess cake — a cream-filled almond pastry. I had fläskfilé, or pork filet, and a slice of chocolate pie.

We just went to the IKEA here in Charlotte, and I tried the almond cake... yummy! The top almost tasted like a toffee topping. I also purchased my first bag of meatballs to take home and lingonberry fruit jam. Unfortunately they didn't have the cream sauce, so I'll have to send my husband for that later when it comes in. Glad you had such a nice time in Sweden with the in-laws!
I. LOVE. IKEA.
islandgirlinnc: Thanks.
Your comment made me so jealous! How I'd love to just drive over to an IKEA and shop till I drop!!
Robb: You are an awesome guy.
Sounds (and looks) like my kind of date!
Andrea: I know you'd love it as much as I do!
