Our Swedish home away from home

A few days into our Sweden trip and we're finally starting to settle in and manage the jet lag. We haven't really ventured out yet, which is fine by me because I love just hanging out at our home away from home, Andreas' parents' house in Gothenburg. Beyond IKEA and Volvo: Manly reasons to love Sweden

The sight of a man pushing a stroller with his child while the mother is elsewhere is not uncommon in Sweden, where 80 percent of fathers take "daddy leave." Zee took this picture in Gothenburg when we went to visit last summer.

In Sweden, parents get 13 months of combined maternity and paternity leave. At least two of those months have to be used by the father.

The New York Times published an article recently about that and other policies that the Nordic nation has implemented to encourage fathers to spend less time at the office and more time at home with the family.

I can relate to that, because I hear about it from my brother and my friends. [more]
