Summer in Sweden: Playground playdate

The other day when we visited Andreas' brother and his family, we took advantage of the fine weather — sunshiney but very cool — and went to a nearby playground. The girls got to spend quality time with their cousin, a sweet blonde-haired and blue-eyed preschooler, and together they whiled away the morning in their own little world. [more]

When the voting got going this week, it looked like it was going to be a race between jdk and rhea, with jdk taking the initial lead.

Things took a surprise turn, however, when Ynaku's caption found tremendous momentum and went from the bottom and shot all the way up to a tie with jdk for the win. [more]

Once again, the caption contest showdown was a battle between jdk, kikaida and Ynaku.

This week, kikaida was the one we thought deserved the victory. As we often do, we judged the winning caption based on the expression on our daughter's face. [more]

Playgrounds offer something old, something new

"I go high up in the sky, all by myself!"

It's surprising how little variation there is in playgrounds. I guess all kids are wired the same way in terms of exercising their little arms and legs.

Gothenburg, along with the rest of Sweden, is no exception.

We saw a couple of unusual design twists on the old playground concept but overall, the offerings in the residential area where my parents live are very similar to what our daughters are used to back home in Hawai'i.
